We'd like to say a huge thank you to all who came to our annual appreciation concert on Sunday, June 4, 2023, and especially to those that made a contribution to the ATL Symphony Musicians Foundation Scholarship Fund.

2022 Winners

Jeremiah Jung, 2022 winner of the ATL Symphony Musicians Foundations Scholarship Competition.

Jeremiah Jung first began playing the violin at 9 years old, when he quickly developed a passion for the instrument. Since then, he has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Fulton County Youth Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, and GMEA All State Orchestra for six years. Jeremiah plays a leading role as co-concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra and was concertmaster of the 2020 GMEA All State Orchestra. He was also selected to participate in a masterclass for the top three players during the Virtual All State Orchestra in 2021.
 
Jeremiah has won numerous musical accolades, including being awarded Georgia state winner/representative and alternative in the Southern Division in the MTNA 2021 competition.  He was also awarded 1st and 2nd alternate in the 2021 GMTA state competition. Upholding the merit of volunteering within his community, he performs in the HOPE Johns Creek Orchestra for nursing homes, churches, hospitals, and homeless shelters.
 
Jeremiah will be studying at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts under the tutelage of Paul Biss.  

Xander Herman, 2022 winner of the ATL Symphony Musicians Foundations Scholarship Competition.

Xander Herman started playing the oboe in 5th grade. His principal teachers are Brian Lyons and Emily Brebach, English Horn of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with musical ensembles such as GMEA District Honor Band, GMEA All State Band, Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has attended music programs at Interlochen and the Brevard Music Center, and has won multiple scholarship awards.
 
Xander will be graduating in the spring of 2023, and is applying to multiple schools with prestigious music performance programs.
